MY MORNING SMOOTHIE

Yes I just love my Berry Smoothie in the morning. It tasty, refreshing, and good. Makes me feel good, in my mind and throughout my whole body. Wish I would have gotten started on these babies a long time ago. You are what you eat. This is oh so true, not just a cliched saying. If you're 50 or older you'll know what I'm talking about.
Well, today my smoothie was made of 1 banana, about 7 fresh Strawberries, 4 Kiwis,1 pineapple slice, a bit of water and a good dose of Honey. Everything was fresh except the pineapple slice which I happened to have in a container in the frig. My shakes depend on what is on sale and or is the best price when I go down to Chinatown(New York) where the prices on fruits and vegetables are 1/2 to just a third the price of produce in the supermarkets near my house. When I was in Chinatown yesterday I got 12 Kiwis for only $3.00, and a large container of fresh Strawberries for only $2.50 and I picked up 3 bananas for 65 cents. Last week I was able to get a large container of Blueberries for just $2.00 .. Dam, I wish I would have bought 2 more containers and froze them. They were so cheap. Berries can be really expensive. Those same amount of Blueberries that I paid just 2 dollars for would have cost me 7 or 8 dollars at my local supermarket.
Well as last week, I was making my shakes with Blueberries, Bananas, Kiwi, Honey, and Pineapple, this week I'm making them the same way, just substituting the Blueberries for Strawberries as the Strawberries were cheaper and the Blueberries more expensive this week. The point is, you buy what is on sale and you'll save a lot in the course of a year.
It's not cheap making these Smoothies my dear friends, but it can be a lot cheaper if you are smart. I approximate that I spend about $12.00 a week on my smoothie ingredients. And I'd wager to say that other people might spend $25 to $30 a week on the same exact ingredients, simply because they are not as good of a shopper as me or they have so much money it doesn't matter to them. I calculable that I spend about $600 ..
And I also calculate that if I wasn't such a smart shopper that I would pay $1,200 to $1,500 a year on the same exact fruits and vegetables for my daily Smoothie consumption. Wow! That's a big difference! Huge! That's an average of about $750 a year that I ,save by being a good shopper and buying only produce that are on sale in Chinatown as compared to the overpriced supermarkets in my neighborhood (Greenwich Village, NY). Do you relieve that's $3,750 in five years time compared to what I could spend if I wasn't so frugal. That's $7,500 in 10 years time. Dam! That's a lot of dough. Even if I was more conservative on that figure i could easily say that I save $6,000 every 10 years with my wise produce purchases. Looking forward to the next 10 years, saving that $6,000 then taking a nice vacation to Sicily with that, where I'll eat fruits and vegetables like you've never seen. Yummm!

MY DAYS with REUBEN .. The SANDWICH THAT IS ...

Wow, The Reuben Sandwich is The Hot new food Item 2012. This is great. The Reuben is one of my All-Time Favorites. So why haven't I had one in ages, I wonder? And why if I haven't had one in ages, that it's one of my All Time Faves? Well I'll tell you. Number one, when made right, it's "Dam Tasty." And I say made right, cause if you don't have the right person or right place makin them, "a lot can go wrong."
So why is it one of my Favorites you ask, aside from it being so delicious? Well, The Reuben Sandwich takes my back to my youth, to my wonderful days at High School where I first discovered, made, and eat this wonderful thing. Wait a minute. No that's not where I discovered and first ate it, that's where I first made it, I'll tell you about that in a moment. Where I first discovered and ate it was at a restaurant I worked in as a busboy back in High School. It was the Moonraker Restaurant in Paramus New Jersey. Yeah, that's the place. I was working at this restaurant, the Reuben was on the menu and was one of the items we were aloud to order and eat for employee meal. How could I forget?

LOOK at THIS JUICY REUBEN
Yummm !!!

Well back to high School and making the Reuben. Me and a few of my buddy's loved food. OF course. Now there was a Cooking Class in our High School that only girls took. Guys were never in eat. Never ever! Now me and my buddy's as I've said love food and tow of us work in restaurants. Now we figure if we could get into this Cooking Class we can get to eat a lot of good food, learn to cook, and be a hit with the girls. We didn't care that no guys ever took this class before, just girls, we had "Balls" we didn't care what other people thought, we wanted to eat and we wanted to learn to cook. We signed up for the cooking class and we got in.
Anyway, one day the teacher asked us if there was anything we wanted to learn how to cook. A few things were thrown out there, I don't remember the other items, but i threw out The REUBEN and guess what, that's what we all decided on that we were going to make. The teacher researched the Reuben. She gave us printed han outs on the Reuben. All ingredients were assembled; Pastrami, Rye Bread, Sauerkraut, Mustard and Swiss Cheese. We were ready to go, me my buddy John P. and this girl Debbie P that my buddy John P couldn't stand. She was skinny as hell but ate a lot of food, more than her fare share and it drove Johnny Boy crazy.
Anyway, all ingredients were ready, we read the hand out instructions and went to town making our Reubens,. Exciting! I must say, they came out pretty good. We loved them and subsequently I made them a couple times at home. But guess what, I haven't had one of these lovely morsels of a sandwich in years. And guess what. Yeah, I saw the piece in Neww York Magazine this week about "Reintroducing The Reuben." It caught my eye. Especially the great pictures of Juicy Reubens. Dam it got me going. I wanted one. I read the article and decided I had to go. Go get a Reuben that it. Two things appealed to me as to the place I was going to get my Reuben Fix. Number one, I want a real classic Reuben, not some dumb alternative version of one, like a dumb ass Turkey or Chicken Reuben. Hey that's not a Reuben. I want the Real Thing, one on grilled Rye with either Pastrami or Corned Beef, both exceptable meats for the Reuben, although I lean more towards one made with Pastrami.

THE GRAMMY'S SUCK SO FAR ... They DON'T HAVE ANY GOOD ARTIST Like in The 60s 70s and 80'S LIKE WHITNEY HOUSTON .. MARVIN GAYE ..The BEATLES .. The STONES ALL THE OLD R&B and CLASSIC ROCK ARTIST .. The MUSIC in The PAST 20 YEARS or SO SUCKS

Yes i'ts True. The Grammy's SUCK. Grammy's 2012 That is. And the Music in the past 20 Years or So with a few Exceptions here and there has Pretty Much SUCKED. They Don't have Great Artist these days like days gone by, with such great a Musical Artists like; the Beatles, Dianna Ross and The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, WHITNEY HOUSTON, Jimi Hendrix, and-on-and-on.
Shit-Ass Rap Hip Hop Crap and Alternative Rock Killed all the GREAT MUSIC of R&B, Pop, and Classic Rock Days Lack Any Sort of Good Taste "What-So-Ever" And this is Not a Generational Thing, "The Music these Days Just Plain and Simple SUCKS." Sucks The Big One.  I grew up Loving all the Great Music of My Day as I've previously mentioned, and along with loving the music of the 60s 70s and 80s, I loved the great music of my parents generation, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and such. The few good songs they've made in the past 20 years I recognize and like, it's just that most of these days Is Shit, plain and simple. "Facts Are Facts," and this is fact.

THE SAD DEATH of WHITNEY HOUSTON

Have Drugs robbed us of another great talent? That's what many suspect of the premature death of the Once Vivacious and Beautiful Whitney Houston. It's another tragedy, the death of the once sweet and lovely Whitney taken away as was Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse and a string of other great performers. Whitney was once on The top of The World, so to speak. She had it all, Youth and Beauty as well is being one of the great singers of her time. She had, fame, wealth, talent, good looks, and on and on. Then she met Bobby Brown. Need I say more. Was Booby Whitney's downfall that has led to this tragic premature death?  Most would and will say, "Yes."
Anyway you look at it is sad and tragic. Our hearts go out to Whitney's daughter Bobbi, mother Cissy Houston and all of Whitney's family and close friends/
God Bless you Whiteny. You were loved by many, were are all sad to see you go in this way, and all we can do is say God Bless and pray for your soul. If your last years on this Earth were not so great, may you Rest in Peace Dear Beautiful One. We will always Remember Your Sweet Beautiful Voice and just the good memories of you Whitney, for now and forever. God Bless You.

CIGARETTES $13.25 a PACK and DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN Just .35 CENTS and ....

Yes Boys and Girls Cigarettes are now $13.25 a pack. Yes I said $13.25 a pack, and they've been that for about a couple years now. Taxes taxes and more taxes. Well this is the New York price. They're a lot cheaper in other states, When i was a kid, Cigarettes were just .35 Cents a pack, Gasoline was also just .35 Cents. Yes that's right, Gas was just .35 Cents a gallon, now around $4.00  ... How bout a Candy-Bar?  When I was a kid, they were just .5 Cents each. hey when my dad was a kid they were just .5 Cents too. they didn't go up for years. Now they're about .80 Cents each. They've gone up 16 times since I was a kid.

When I was a kid, a movie cost just .65 Cents. In New York it's 20 times that now. That's right, a freakin movie cost $13.00 now. What is this World coming to? There is No Good Music made any more, Gas is $4.00 a gallon, a Candy Bar cost .80 Cents, even a Dollar, Cigarettes are a whopping $13.25 a pack in New York City. And speaking of New York, the Subway? The Subway is now $2.50 a ride. It was, when I was a kid, the same price as a pack of Cigarettes and a Gallon of Gasoline. That's right, you've been paying attention. The Subway fare was just .35 Cents when i was a kid. I could go on and on. Inflation! Do you know what they say is the average price rent of a 1 Bedroom Apartment in Manhattan? Try $3,400. That's right Three thousand four Hundred Dollars a month, not a year, for a stinkin little one bedroom apartment. Right! What is this World coming to?

NyFoodee PROCLAIMS "PERCY'S PIZZA BEST $1.00 PIZZA in NEW YORK" ..... December 10, 2011 ...February 8, 2012 The NEW YORK POST JUMPS on The BAND WAGON

Yes The New York Post is jumping on The Band Wagon proclaiming Percy's Pizza The Best $1.00 PIZZA in New York, and yes this is true. And I don't blame The Post for writing this piece and I'm glad they did, as let's face it, they have a lot more power and exposure than I, just let's not forget who "Discovered" this Gem first and who was the First to write about it and Proclaim It
"New York'S best $1.00 Pizza." ? Mwha! Yes I. Me writing the piece and making the proclamation way back in December 2011, more than 2 months before the New York Post's piece.
For those of you who may have forgotten here it is, my Proclamation that Percy's Pizza is The Number One Undisputed Champion King Best $1.00 SLICE of PIZZA in New York. Look below.
Post in NyFoodee    ....  December 10, 2011 by Daniel Bellino Zwicke

PROCLAIMING  PERCY'S PIZZA BEST $1.00 PIZZA in NEW YORK
The latest entry into the DOLLAR a SLICE PIZZA "PERCY'S PIZZA" on Dollar Slice is phenomenal. It's Top Notch and Superior to the likes of JOE'S PIZZA just a mere 200 feet away from this wonderful new establishment.
The Pizza at Percy's is just about absolute perfection. The way real pizza should be, perfect dough that is cooked to crisp perfection with just the right balance of tomato to cheese ratio. This slice is tasty, and at a Dollar a pop, one of New York's greatest culinary deals. And as for the other Buck a Slice guys, they just don't measure up. They're pretty good for a Dollar, but the slice at Percy's is Superior, even up against $2.75 a Slice joints like the famed Joe's Pizza just feet away. Percy's blows them away. They have a couple great Pizzaiolos, one from Sardegna, the other from Cairo of all places. Percy's is a simple unassuming place, that's nice and comfortable and serves up some of the Best Pizza in town, and at a Buck a Pop, you just can't
beat it. I Love it, and hope it last.

CAFE Du MONDE ... NEW ORLEANS

Gonna give a little "Shout Out" to The Big Easy, New Orleans and one of the World's Great cafes, Cafe Du Monde. Thee one place that everyone goes to more than any other when in New Orleans, whether you're a visitor or you live there, you go to The Cafe Du Monde for their great Beignets and Cafe Creme, and, and the show and the ambiance that is thee "One and Only" Cafe Du Monde.
The Place is open 24/7 364 days a year, closed on just Christmas day, i do believe. Situated right upon the Mighty Mississippi River at The French Market in the French Quarter across the street from Jackson Square. This is one of thee hearts of New Orleans if not thee number one one.
I always make at least one or two visits whenever I'm in New Orleans. You get a nice cup of Coffe "Cafe Creme" and the cafes justly famous Beignets, all for just about four bucks. And you get to sit in a lively cafe where just about everyone goes to.
You might want to head down the Decatur Street for a tasty Muffuletta Sandwich (Best in New Orleans) at The Central Grocery. A Muffuletta Sandwich at Central Grocery is a must have when in Nola, then you can go to the Cafe Du Monde for dessert and coffee. After these two stops, if your in the mood for a nice libation, it's just a few steps down Decatur to Tujague's, one of new Orleans oldest restaurants, like Cafe  Du Monde they opened around 1862.. Go to the stand-up bar Tujgue's for a cocktail, and if you like, order a grasshopper, this is where it was invented.
Or if you gotta sit down when you drink, head just a couple blocks away to
Napoleon House, one of the World's Great Bars. Napoleon House was built by The Mayor of New Orlean's, Mayor Girod for Napoleon Bonaparte to leave his exile in Elba and come to live in New Orleans in this home Girod had built for him. Napoleon died and never made it, but you can make it there and have a Bourbon old Fashion, a Sazerac, Ramos Fizz, or their House Specialty Cocktail a "Pimms Cup."
And I must say as someone who has traveled all around the World, from paris to Rome, Capri to Amsterdam, Buenos Aires to Rio de Janiero, LA to Hong Kong to Saigon to Havana, Cuba, New Orleans is one of The Coolest Cities in The World. I Love it.
And as a lover of New Orleans and as a New Yorker and concerned American, I'm surprised and astonished to why more New Yorkers don't go down and spend a few wonderful days in New Orleans They love it, but I don't see many New Yorkers going there and they should. For one, new Orleans is one of the Coolest Places in the World, with great restaurants, Awesome Food, wonderful architecture, and some of the World's Best Music, it's everywhere. And the people? They're wonderful. Also, since Hurricane Katrina, the town and the people of New Orleans could use new Yorkers and all Americans supports, and I don't see it. So do yourself a favor, go down and spend a few fun filled days in The Big Easy, New Orleans, I assure you, "You'll be glad you did."

ELI IS GOING TO DISNEY WORLD

Yes Eli manning is going to Disney World ! Eli led his team The New York Giants to a 2nd
Superbowl Victory in four years time and the Giants 4th Super Bowl Win overall.
But is Eli Manning really going to Disney World? Probably "Not," but Eli and the Giants will surely be at a Victorious Parade that will be held for them on Lower Broadway and The Canyon of Heroes.

It's 10:30 in the evening on February 5, 2012 ... I'm in Greenwich Village and there are a lot of happy New Yorker's out on the streets celebrating the Giants Victory over the  New England Patriots to be crowned Super Bowl and World Champions once again, the fourth time in the past 25 years. Not Bad! phil Simms led the Giants to two Super Bowl Victories in 1986 and 1991 with  help with great teammates like "LT" Lawrence Taylor, Joe Morris, Phil McConkey ( a  fan favorite) and Mark Bavaro, one of the greatest Tight Ends to ever play in the NFL. Let's remember these great players and also Coach Bill Parcels, another NFL Great.

EVERY MAN NEEDS A GOOD WATCH ... ROLEX ... OMEGA ..etc.

A Good Watch. It's something every man needs, but few have, well, percentage wise anyway.
I'm not talking about a Timex, or "God Forbid" one of those nasty looking Casio watches. A Rolex or Omega are the most popular top end standards, not everyone can afford to spend $3,00 for a Omega or $5,000 and up for a Rolex. If you can afford it, there is nothing like having a Rolex Submarine or GMT Master. The classic look of these two great watches is timeless. ONE look at the Submariner and you'll notice it's all business with classic yet simple design, that is "Timeless." The Submariner is a sport watch but because of its timeless design can be worn with a suit for business or Tuxedo.
This watch made of the fine stainless-steel with a classic black face, black dial, and Mercedes style hands. It is waterproof to 300 meters and is powered by a World Class movement. Believe it or not, a Rolex at $5,000 is a bargain. Considering that there are watches on the market that go for $10,000, $20,000, $100,000 and even 1 Million Dollars, which as much is I love watches, feel that anything over $20,000 is absolutely insane. Obscene even. A Rolex will give you instant cache, no matter how rich the group you are amongst. So the the cache a $5,000 Rolex gives, even comparable to a $10,000 to $100,000 watches, the Rolex Submariner or GMT Master is a bargain.
So back to everyman needing a good watch and what one can afford to spend. As stated, if you can afford the Rolex, you've just got to get it. If you can't afford the Rolex or Omega, you have other options as their are great watches available for $350, even less that have the look of watches cost $3,000, $5,000 or more. I bought a S. Coifman Dive Watch that can almost be put in the same league as the Submariner or GMT Master. My S. Coifman has the same top tier stainless steel, saphire crystal, and Swiss Movement as the Rolex watches. It is 100% Swiss made from a famed Swiss watch company that has been in business for some 150 years. This watch is practically every bit the equal to a Rolex from a quality and style point of view. The watch normally retails for $1,500, though much cheaper than the Rolex, it is total equal in terms of quality. I paid just $299 for the watch that looks every bit the part of a $3,000 plus timepiece.
If possible, if you decide you will buy and were a good quality time piece, the first step would be to get a great Dive watch, such as a Rolex or Omega if you've got that kind of cash? If not, and you can get your hands on something like my S. Coifman Diver for $500 or less. you can even get a Invicta Pro Diver for $200 or less that looks pretty much like a Submariner, and the quality is pretty good.
So you get a great looking Diver, your next step would be to get a beautiful looking classic style dress watch with a great Crocodile, Alligator, or fine Leather Strap. A company called Sturhling Original makes some amazing looking dress watches that look like $5,000 and $10,000 time pieces but can be had for $250 or less at Amazon. No Bull. It's true, some of these Sturhling watches look just like $100,000 ones.
Men, get yourself a great watch, put on some Levis, a great shirt, good leather shoes and belt, and you are set. Add a good sport jacket and you'll look like a Million Bucks. A lady killer. Daniel Bellino Zwicke

DON CORNELIUS and SOUL TRAIN ... A SAD DAY in The R&B and MUSIC WORLD as DON CORNELIUS DIES AGE 75

A sad day in The Music World and for all America today. Don Cornelius was found Dead at his home in Los Angelos today with a gunshot wound to his head, a apparent suicide Mr Cornelius was the Host and Creator of the highly popular Soul Train music show that featured mostly R&B and Black Musical Aritist, some Great Music. Soul Train was at its height of popularity in the 70s and 80s and featured such great talents as Aretha Franklin Michael Jackson, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and all the Greats of R&B, and Soul Music.
Like myself and "Anyone with Good Taste" don did not like the Tasteless Awful Crap "Rap Music." he never wanted any of the artist who made such GARBAGE on his show, but somehow was forced to and really had no choice to do so just a little bit. But he did in the end. This Crap Rap and Hi Hop Music unfortunately proved the end  and death of such wonderful music as Soul and R&B and Don eventually gave up as there was hardly anymore of the great stuff R&B and Soul music, just a lot of "Rap Crap." So Soul Train ended its long illustrious career.
I've said it again, over and over, what has happened to all the great music we used to produce in this country? For the past 15 years or so, just a lot of Rap and other Crap. Mostly. Classic Rock has disappeared, and there is a little bit of R&B around, but very little and way too far in-between, mostly just a bunch of Crap, and worst of all "Rap Crap," music for Ignorant, Uneducated People who are devoid of any Taste. It's sad. Well this also people is the reason there are so many tasteless and mindless Soup Operas and Sitcoms out there and quite popular. It's true but sad that a large majority of people in the United States have horrible taste. just look how many dress. What are we gonna do? Nothing! It's inevitable, a certain percentage of the citizenry have and are going to have "Bad Taste" just as those who like Rap Music and other crap like it. That's Life!
just let us remember a man who had good taste, Mr. Don Cornelius who went up against and tried to ignore and steer people away from it, and when he couldn't, when the fact was that the youth of the time had and still has such bad taste in Music, oved the Crap, bought it and embrace it, all Don Cornelius could do was end the Great and Wonderful thing he created, "Souuuuuul Traaaainn" !!!!!
Soul Train, Don Cornelius, and all the great Artist who ever appeared on it are loved and will be loved and remembered for a long long time.
  God Bless Don... R.I.P.
