Once Upon Tart Re-Opens Soho

GREAT NEWS in SOHO
ONCE UPON a TART

Sulivan Street

Soho

NEW YORK , NY

Well it's been a RollerCoaster Ride the past six months or so for Jerome Audereau
and his bloved Soho establishment Once Upon a Tart .. Because of a high-rent increase and other factors, The Tart as it's know to its many loyal followers and fans found itself in a bit of a finacncial strain. Jerome said the numbers didn't add up and unless he got a partner the Tart would have to close. Matt Amramchyk the owner of sucessful Navy Restaurant next door was interested in parntering with Audureu and The Tart but this wishful marriage was squashed by The Soho Alliance who to put it bluntly hated Navy and its owner and did not want them to be a partner at The Tart as they said if the partnership of Navy and Once Upon a Tart was approved with a Approval of a State Liquor Liscense, the people behind NAVY would control half the block. Sweeney and the people at Soho Alliance all love Jerome and Once Upon a Tart, but the feelings are just the opposite when it comes to Navy and the people behind. The neighborhood people have a beef with Navy and its owner Matt Abramcyk, as Sweeney and those opposing Navy say that they are bad nieghbors, playing loud music and making a ruckass outside lat into the night.

So as it turns out, Once Upon a Tart shuttered its doors in August of 2014 to overwhelming sadness of its local cutomers  .. Mr. Audureu has since gained a partner and has re-opened the beloved Once Upon a Tart as of this day, Wedesday November 26, 2014 ..  Needless to say, we local customers are quite excited and happy at the re-opening of our beloved Tatrt.

Bravo Jerome, Good Luck, and Welcome Back,

Your Loyal Customers

Once Upon Tart Reopening

The TART Is ReOpening !!!  "Oh HAPPY DAY"

I recievied this eMail form Jerome Audureau, stating, "Good news after 2 months closed           ONCE UPON a TART ...  will be re opening November 7th . Jerome Audureau jerome@onceuponatart.com

ONCE UPON a TART sadly closed this past Summer (2014). For those of us who truly loved this quaint little bakery / cafe, the closing was quite a blow, akin to losing a very close friend .. The TART as the regulars like myself call it, had operated in its wonderful Old New York Storefront for some 23 years. The storefront of the tart is more or less the same as it was some 100 years ago when it operated as a bakery in this Italian immagrant dominated neighborhood of the Sout Village (Greenwich Village). Yes, technically this part of Sullivan Street (block between W. Houston & Prince Street) is considered Soho .. Well if you're an old-timer and especially of Italian descent and grew up in the neighborhood, this "Is Not Soho," but The Village ... Basta!
Anyway, Once Upon a Tart is a much loved little Cafe .. For many, like me, it is a second home we we go to get our daily coffee, muffins, and tarts to start our day just right. Yes we get our coffee, muffins, soups, and sandwiches at The Tart, but it not just that. At The Tart we get so much more .. Everyday I get up and out of my Greenwich Village apartment and my first stop of the day is to my beloved Tart .. I go for my daily morning coffee, which like any great coffee lover, I do love dearly. I go for my coffee and my bonus of seeing the lovely Cleo, Anna. Samina or anyone of the wonderful counter-girls who work at the Tart .. These women are lovely and it is for me one of the simple pleasures of life just to go and get my coffee and be greeted so warmly each and every morning by someone as lovely as Cleo, Kanai, or one of the other girls who work at The Tart. When I say that Kanai Cleo Jerome and all the girls who work there are "like Family," this is not just Cliche but something tangible and oh so true and my favorite thing about my Tart ...
The atomosphere is homey, welcoming, serene, and oh so lovely. Yes, as I've said, the Tart is a second home to many of us. It's a meeting place and a sactuary. It's sanctuary to us regulars as well as so many thousands upon thousands of tourists who've either stumbled upon this lovely little gem or read about it and seeked it out for one of their famous Chocolate Pear Tarts, Madelines, or other tasty treat. They stop in for a little refuge, coffee, tea, a place to sit and get a tasty little treat. It's a place so special and a welcome repreive.
Once Upon a Tart to reopen? Please Lord let this be true, we miss it and want it back, and of this, there is not much more to say. Basta!

Last Day of The TART

ONCE UPON A TART Closing After 23 Years in Soho

SATURDAY August 23, 2014

The LAST DAY of THE TART

It's a very sad day in our neighborhood of South Greenwich Village / Soho today. Our beloved favorite little Mom & Pop Bakery / Cafe UNCE UPON A TART is Closing today. It's the last day, my last Coffee and the last time to see our lovely friends; Cleo, Samina, Kanai, and Jerome ..
Once Upon a Tart has been like family to us. Those of us living in the neighborhood like myself who go there the first thing in the morning after leaving my house, I go to Once Upon a Tart fo my morning Coffee. But it's much more than that. It may sound Cliche, but in my case it really is, these people (the gcounter girls) are literally like family to me. I'm single and don't have a family and going to The Tart is almost like going to a second home where these lovely ladies, Cleo, Anna, and Samina are so nice and sweet, seeing them each morning brightens my day and starts it off just right. It really means a lot to me. And let me not forget Jerome, the owner of the Tart who with his wonderful little bakery / cafe, has brought joy and a place to go for those of us in the neighborhood as well as a multidude of tourists who find a lovely little cafe were they can get a bite to eat, a coffee and a bit of relaxation in a wonderful independent non-Starbucks cafe. How refreshing.
I've bee going to the Tart for 23 years since the place first opened. My girlfriend Dante and I were strolling the neighborhood and discovered this lovely little place. I've been going there ever since, never missing a beat. I love this place and will "Miss it Greatly." I will miss the nice ambiance, the coffee, tasty muffins and tarts, but most, I'll miss those wonderful girls who give me my coffee with a sweet smile each and everyday. I'm almost about to cry. Thank You to The Tart, to Jerome, and all the lovely ladies who have worked there over the years. A not so sweet but sad goodbye. Farewell.
